Position Overview
MEPPIs Substation Division (SSD) is looking a Sales Application Engineer II Power Transformer to provide expertise and support of MEPPI transformer product line by leading transformer technical and commercial meetings, presentations, design reviews, diagnostic analysis and sales seminars to support transformer new unit and service sales.
Essential Functions
- Provide budgetary pricing and typical transformer layouts for customers.
- Organize sales and marketing events. Develop presentation content for seminars, coordinate seminar events with RVPs and sales reps, handle logistics, schedule seminar speakers and deliver presentations during the events.
- Create and maintain an electronic database of project cost performance vs. quoted costs.
- Develop exceptions, technical data and drawing packages to satisfy specification requirements. Provide support for development of technical and commercial bids.
- Interface with factory, overseas marketing department, and third party suppliers to specify scope of supply.
- Develop and design parts and components, as required. Identify, recommend and implement design improvements and cost reductions to Company and supplier products and services.
- Qualify local content suppliers for transformer installation services such as hauling, assembly, testing and diagnostics. Maintain database of transformer unit and local content pricing.
- Attend transformer-related trade association meetings. Create and present technical papers of our transformers.
- Coordinate and attend customer factory visits for bids. Attend and participate in proposal and design reviews. Perform customer follow up to ensure customer questions are answered and commitments are satisfied.
- Assist with shipment and field installation at port of entry and substations to review unit condition and documentation. Participate in shipping and receiving process and the handoff process from ocean to rail to ground transportation. Identify and resolve shipment and delivery issues.
- Provide engineering support to resolve warranty issues.
- Prepare drawings to support parts and service orders.Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 3-5 years of experience in engineering, marketing or sales, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of transformer utilization and related products and services.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work in multicultural environments with emphasis on Japanese culture.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products.
